12/01/2012 - NET NEUTRALITY - 3 DAYS TO BOOST REPORTING ON RESPECTMYNET.eu

Thanks to the RespectMyNet.eu platform and thanks to the participation of citizens from all over Europe in unveiling these harmful practices, EU regulators can no longer ignore the widespread access restrictions which undermine freedom of communication, privacy, as well as competition and innovation online. By further contributing to RespectMyNet, citizens can help increase pressure on the Commission to legislate on Net neutrality.

Below is a small guide on how to help RespectMyNet with reporting cases. As you'll see, some Member States are well represented (France, Belgium and Germany), and but others lack confirmations (Italy, the UK, Austria or Sweden and Eastern Europe).

If you want to help reporting or confirming cases, or if you can relay the info to the right people, it would be most helpful. That way we can pressure the Commission to legislate once and for all on Net neutrality.

How to help Respect My Net[edit]

You can:

  • Identify the more realistic cases for your country (for instance cases you've heard about before, plausible cases with several confirmations, etc.)
  • Call for your community to analyze theses cases and confirm them. Comment the case with ways to diagnose and confirm the case. Call widely for confirmation.
  • Also call for mobilization to report new cases (longer term)
  • Ask technical people to validate the case is correct by accurately testing it, providing test results, etc.
