• Counsellor to the Mayor of Lisbon on cultural and planning issues (1990-1991)
• Editor of the weekly 'Já' (1995)
• Reporter for the magazine 'Vida Mundial' (1998-1999)
• Author of TV documentary 'Mar das Índias' (2000) and of a documentary on the Mediterranean
• Author of a book of essays, 'E o resto é paisagem' ('The rest is scenery', 2002)
• Member of the Union of Communist Students, 1973
