• Post-graduate, Ethics and Religious Studies, University of Wrocław (1980) and the Centre for Social Studies at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Polish Academy of Sciences (1992-1994)
• Scholarship to the New School University, New York (1993-1994)
• Lecturer at the Academy of Economics in Wrocław (since 1994), College ofManagement and Finance in Wrocław (since 1997)
• Founder and one of the chairmen of the Lower Silesian region of the independent, self-governing trade union NSZZ Solidarność (1980-1989)
• Amnesty International prisoner of conscience in 1984 and 1988
• Co-founder of the underground Radio Solidarność in Wrocław
• From July 1987, spokesman for 'Polish-Czech Solidarność'
• Participant in events organised by the Orange Alternative
• Stayed in Brazil and Argentina in 1989 at the invitation of the labour organisation
• Conducted a comparative study into the processes of emergence from undemocratic systems in Southern Europe, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe
