Thanks to improve this part with opinions from Catherine TRAUTMANN about Squaring the Net concerned issues (see page Help:Political_Memory to know how to do it).

A final problem appeared late in the work, that is the protection of

intellectual property rights. I regret that this debate came to the floor at this stage in the drafting of this package, it's a bit late in the day for that to go deeper in the mechanisms allowing a strict enforcement of intellectual property rights.

I just want to say that I hope that we would be able to complete the analysis of this package with calm and serenity, without being disturbed by this subject, admittedly important, since creative

contants are subject from a communication by Commission.

Let me also say, since I was questioned shortly by Mr. Toubon, that

you cannot blame me here for not willing to take into account the necessary support to the creation in Europe. I believe it is a real vehicle for innovation, a wealth and an intellectual increase in value which is absolutely indispensable in today's world.

But we must also take into account the freedom that we have to ensure with our laws - we have voted extremely important texts about the protection of personal data, and we're the only ones to have done so in the world as of today. We must reconcile these two aspects. There is no contradiction. It's indeed the same ambition to devote what falls in creative freedom as what falls in freedom of each individual. It is in that spirit that we will still go forward

improving our proposals.
